Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actor, dancer and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. She began her Broadway career performing in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, and Hair. As the character Essie In You Can't Take It With You she received the Tony Award. Annaleigh Ashley is a Tony Award winning actor and actress, has worked with directors and actors on stage and screen for all of her career. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani as part of Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford's current film will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms and will be available as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place on March 20, 2023. He stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. This show will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who produced Hamilton. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, based off the scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. Ashford was the main character in two seasons of CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, with the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Some other Broadway performances for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, in which she starred with George Wicked legally Blonde, and the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received the Tony Award nomination. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver and was raised in Denver.
